Summit County gained popularity with its winter activity offerings including downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snowshoeing. But, there is a saying which is true for most people who move to Summit County - "I came for the winters but stayed for the summers!!" I was the odd duck - I actually came for the summers!! With an average temperature in the mid-70's and no humidity, it is hard to beat a more beautiful location for outdoor activities!
Of course there is hiking which is my favorite summer activity! There is nothing better than losing yourself in the woods where you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains. And, from now until mid-July you will be blessed with beautiful wildflowers as well! Find your favorite hiking trail HERE.
Another fan favorite is getting out on the water! Whether its sailing, partying on a pontoon boat, or exploring Dillon Lake's nooks and crannies with a paddle board or kayak, I encourage you to get on the water to experience the mountains from a different perspective. You will be amazed just how HUGE Lake Dillon really is! Both the Dillon and Frisco marinas offer rentals for all modes of water transportation, or you can join a Historical Boat Tour from the Dillon Marina. Summit County has a very colorful past - so enjoy a beautiful boat ride while learning about Summit's History. You can find more information HERE.
Summit County is home to 5 golf courses which include Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks, Copper Creek Golf Course, Keystone's 2 Golf Course (The River Course and Keystone Ranch), and Breckenridge Golf Club. While the golf season is short in Summit County, it is still an amazing way to enjoy Summit's amazing summers!
Don't forget biking! Do you enjoy the technical aspects of mountain biking, or do you prefer to hope on a paved path or road and ride for miles on your road bike? Whichever you prefer, Summit County has you covered! For road biking, Summit County has an amazing Recreation Path that provides you access throughout all of Summit County with a trail that even continues over Vail Pass to Vail. To check out those trails, click HERE. This Site provides you with a great map of mountain biking trails.
Summer also brings many events to the County. We keep a good list of upcoming events on our website. To see a list of events for each month, go to our Local Events page and click on the event to get more details.
I love the Dillon Farmer's Market on Friday mornings and if you are into theater, Theatre SilCo in Silverthorne provides amazing shows. Check out their summer line up HERE.
If you are out for a walk along Main Street in Frisco, be sure to stop by our office to say Hello! Our new digs are located at 101 E Main Street, Unit C101! We'd love to see you.
Enjoy your summer and stay safe!!
